As a youth he played a good standard of football (we have to take his word for it!), but then discovered women and alcohol, the rest is obvious.

As the season progresses he finds it more and more difficult to compete for the ball as the grass tends to get a little tall for him, often it's not even clear if he is even on the pitch.
